This is an interesting aspect of the diet. The diet aspect of the Atkins program has four stages. First, there is this, the 14 day Induction diet for fast weight loss.
Next, there will be the stage of Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL). Then, there will be the Pre Maintenance diet, a stage of transition to your lifetime diet, which will take place while you’re losing your last few pounds. Finally, there will be the lifetime Maintenance diet.
For each of these levels of the diet, there is a Critical Carbohydrate Level that pertains to you. Your individual metabolism has a certain quantity of carbohydrate beyond which it will cease to lose weight, or after you’ve reached your ideal weight beyond which you will begin to gain it back.
