We’ve been watching as the rise of the double has been making waves throughout the fashion industry. Individual designers have been giving way to collaborations, where we see big brands coming together with even bigger names – we’re talking about Kate Moss for Topshop, Pharrell for Adidas or Alexander Wang for H&M (to name a few of our favourites).
Creative genii are making statements on the runway (and in real life) in the footsteps of designer couple Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana; and siblings have shown that they can do it for themselves too – just think of Dean and Dan from D Squared or Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen of The Row.
Designers have been playing on the power of two on the runway and setting the stage for women (and men) to stand together in the fashion democracy – Louis Vuitton’s checkerboard creations walking side by side at the Spring/Summer 2017 show or, more recently, Karl Lagerfeld’s staged ‘protest’, where models marched to showcase the Spring/Summer 2017 collection. Even the likes of street-style stars Elena Perminova and Miroslava Duma have become fashionable best friends. We’ve interviewed power couples – creative individuals who have come together to build brands worth celebrating – and have looked to the streets to find the separates that were simply made for each other.
