This wakeup shake will boost your Weight Loss vitamin levels and give you extra energy at the start of the day. It tastes best chilled, so keep your milk or apple juice in the fridge before using. The black strap molasses gives the shake a delicious tang and is also a useful source of iron.

1 level tbsp sunflower seeds 1 level tbsp sesame seeds 150ml (V4pt) skimmed milk or 150ml (Vipt) apple juice
1 tsp crude blackstrap molasses
1 ripe banana (optional), peeled

Finely grind the seeds in a coffee mili (extra supplies may be ground and stored in the fridge to save preparation time). Blend the ground seeds, milk or apple juice, molasses and banana (if using) together in a food mixer or liquidizer. Serve immediately while stili frothy.

Weight Loss Compöte
Serves 4 This compöte is the ideal fastfood breakfast as it is prepared the day before, can be kept in the fridge for at least a week and is ready to serve immediately.

350g (12oz) mixed dried fruit such as: apple rings apricots
dates figs
pears prunes
raisins sultanas
V2 tsp allspice V2 tsp dnnamon water
50g (2oz) chopped almonds

Choose unsulphured fruit where possible, preserved without sulphur dioxide. Soak the fruit and spices over night in 300ml (V^pint) water. Serve with plain, Hve lowfat yoğurt and a sprinkling of chopped almonds.

This recipe is based on the original muesli invented by Dr BircherBenner for patients at his famous natural health clinic in Sıvitzerland. To save time in the mornings, the oats may be soaked overnight, leaving only the fruit and hazelnuts to be added at breakfast. Dr BircherBenner believed that the entire apple should be used pips and ali!

4 tbsp rolled oats
2 tbsp lovvfat yoğurt 6 tsp cold water Vı tsp grated lemon rind 225g (8oz) freshly grated (unpeeled) apple or 450g (11b) seasonal soft
fruits, such as strawberries
2 tbsp chopped hazelnuts or almonds

Put the oats, yoğurt, vvater and lemon rind into a large bowl and stir until creamy. Leave in the fridge overnight if preferred. Add the fruit and serve sprinkled vvith the chopped hazelnuts or almonds.
