Ascorbic acidr thiamin, niacinamide, pyridoxine, vitamin Blt, folic acid, magnesium, glutamic acid, and tryptophane were specifically designated as intimately linked to brain function and mental illness.
Of these essential nutrients, vitamin B3 (niacin or niacinamide) has received the most publicity. If B3 were the sole nutrient needed for optimal brain cell function, the prevention and treatment of mental illness would be a simple matter indeed.
