You are the Director of Jumbo Electronics what has been the biggest challenge that you have faced? In 2002, my father who established the business in Dubai in 1973, passed away and the day to day management of Jumbo Group fell largely onto my shoulders without any warning. It was like baptism by fi re! That was by far the most trying time in my professional and personal life. What advice would you give to young women growing up in today’s society? Learn to love yourself, accept yourself, respect yourself. Start young, and tell yourself that you are amazing right where you are at this moment in time, even if you don’t believe it. Fake it till you make it! You recently realised your dream of writing a book known as Kitty In the City. Tell us about that… I never gave up on my dream of wanting to be a published author. I didn’t decide how many copies I’d want to sell, or what I wanted to write about, or even the fact that it would be published. Just the writing of it was good enough for me. So in terms of a trait that has got me to where I am today, I’d put it down to never giving up. Sometimes it’s important to just go ahead and do it (not to sound like a Nike ad!)
