Vancouver based designer Ron Leal has devel oped a loyal following for his sophisticated career wear at bridge prices, but he’s always wanted to try his hand at more luxurious fabrics. He’s get ting his chance thanks to heiress Pamella DeVos from the family that made its fortune in “It’s better to play it Creative than safe,” said Jean Paul Gaultier, unveiling his long awaited New All That Jazz “I stili see the world in a romantic way,” said photographer Paul Jasmin. “And I don’t mean that in a fashion sense, because I’m not as interested in fashion as I anı in people.”
That sense of intimacy pervades Jasmin’s ne w collection, “Hollywood Cowboy” (Arena Editions), which includes portraits, fashion layouts and black and white snapshots he took as a child in Montana.
“I like to shoot people I know,” Jasmin explained of his subjects, who have ranged from the model T&tiana to his students at Cal Arts, one of whom, Sofia Coppola, wrote the book’s introduction. “I’ve always felt that it’s important to interact with those that I’m shooting. I need to talk to them and get to know who they are before I can take a picture of them.”
