Experts reveal howto get the SEASON’S BEST LOOKS, from ladylike pink lips to bold eye makeup and chie updos

Ralph Lauren Collection

Intensely rosy cheeks made faces glow at Valentino and Ralph Lauren. But as Tom Pecheux, makeup artist at Ralph Lauren, explains, it wasn’t just a simple swipe of blush. “I put the blush very far up on the cheek, so it looks like a softer, more modern version of a geisha.” Try Estee Lauder Tender Blush in Pink Kiss ($25).

Whether tousled and boyish like Agyness Deyn’s (above) or sideswept a la Freja Beha Erichsen (right), short hair is in. “A disheveled look is great for day,” says stylist Orlando Pita, “but for evening, make it more controlled and edgy.” How? Spritz front pieces with T3 360° Boost ($38) and fire up your flatiron.

Chanel Violet and tangerine made for a kaleidoscopic effect at Michael Kors, while backstage at Karl Lagerfeld, makeup artist Emmanuel Sammartino created a two-tone look with peacock blue and acid green. “Bright colors on the eyes look very feminine,” he says. Try M.A.C. Eye Shadow in Freshwater ($14).

Swept-back styles ranged from a loose, twisted bun at Dolce & Gabbana to a pristine bow at Chanel. “To ensure that the hair looked natural, not frozen, the only product we used was a bit of hair spray,” says stylist Odile Gilbert, who created the coifs at Chanel.

We like Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Frizz Control Hairspray ($4.99).

3 spring, fake a healthy glow rather than a deep, dramatic tan. To achieve this lighter look, forgo creamy, opaque bronzers in favor of a powder. “Build up the color gradually so that it looks natural,” instructs Pat McGrath, makeup artist at the Gucci show. Try Max Factor ColorGenius Blush in Spices ($8.49).

From fire-engine red to cotton-candy pink, bold lips were a springrunway staple. “Finish the look with a layer of gloss,” suggests makeup artist Diane Kendal, who mixed up an orange-red shade backstage at Carolina Herrera. Get the look with Dior Addict Lipstick in Red Interference. For rosy lips, try Dior’s Uncontrollable Pink ($24.50 each).

Soften a smoldering smoky eye for spring by choosing chocolate liner and shadow instead of basic black. “Err on the side of caution, though,” warns Kendal, also a makeup artist at Jean Paul Gaultier. “It’s easier to build up the look than tear it down.” Try L’Oreal Paris HIP Shadow Stick in Alluring ($12).

Low-maintenance looks can still be very glamorous, and the voluminous hair at Versace was a perfect example. “To get the style, mix a thickening lotion with straightening balm in your palms and apply to damp hair,” instructs stylist Guido Palau, who created the look. Try Redken Thickening Lotion 06 ($11.95). “Then blow it dry, bending the ends around a round brush to create maximum movement.”
