Stanbrook fuses period-drama grandeur with swanky refurbished bedrooms and enough space to accommodate a guest list of any size. There’s a games room, a ’20s-style piano lounge, hair and make-up artists on call, a secret dining cellar and loads of outdoor photo opps for swoon¬worthy Insta shots (the 26-acre estate is available for exclusive hire, too). There’s a five-bedroom (including bridal suite) Georgian manor house in the grounds – which is perfect for your family – while you and your husband-to-be have a flurry of fabulous options for pre- and post¬wedding fun. IF FULL-ON, TRADITIONAL BRITISH COUNTRY SPLENDOUR IS WHAT YOU’RE AFTER
Head to St Audries near the Bristol Channel – a stunning mid-19th-century manor house, turrets and all, which seems to have been shielded from the high-tech refurb so many estates go through. The property sits within a 100-acre deer park, is less than a kilometre from the coast, and is a masterclass in elegance and simplicity for those who want a luxurious venue without all the bells and whistles of a mega-bucks hotel. The focus here is on impeccable service to ensure you and your guests have the best weekend imaginable, with brilliantly arranged night-before drinks parties, day-after brunches and in-between countryside activities such as clay-pigeon shooting, garden games and BBQs. The main house, a selection of cottages and the coach house can accommodate over 100, with the option of spending the night before your wedding with your bridesmaids in secluded Holly Cottage for total girlie decadence. The estate offers a choice of ceremony and reception spots, such as St Etheldreda’s chapel and the prettiest little stone orangery, which looks like a tiny château. You can transform the banqueting hall to suit your day’s theme, and there is a dedicated disco room adjacent to the Champagne bar.

MEDIUM-SIZED WEDDING VENUES AREN’T ALWAYS EASY TO FIND
Places are either too small and intimate, or so huge you feel like you’re paying for 20 unused conference rooms. Braxted hits the mark with a generous Georgian mansion house and outbuildings, plus 12 en-suite stable rooms and a cute cottage (in which you can spend your first night of marriage) on the estate’s grounds. Style-wise, you can choose between decadent, period-feature-rich rooms and dining spaces, and the marquee¬like pavilion in the gardens with its clean, fresh lines, which offers a more contemporary feel. You could even mix it up by hosting your wedding breakfast surrounded by rich curtains and chandeliers in the main house, followed by a disco in the pavilion. There’s also an optional Indian Tiffin Tent to use as a drinks lounge or summer dining space. As for the ceremony, all of the options above work brilliantly for civil gatherings (there’s also a pretty gazebo in the gardens) or you can go trad at All Saints, the little church across the lake from the main house.
