No Swimming Allowed Pesky neighbors are bad enough, but what about when they’re more than 2,000 years old? Owners of La Posta Vecchia, the ultraluxurious hotel on the western outskirts of Rome, had to cali off plans to build an outdoor pool when they unearthed the remains of a Roman villa dating from the second century BC.
So hotel guests will have to be content with the indoor pool for now. “It’s a problem for us,” admits Roberto Scio, whose family owns the hotel. “We’re looking for other places on the property, but we never know what we’re going to find. It’s Italy, after all.”
