THE WRITING ON THE WALL

Like so many musicians, Gwen has long mined her personal life for material. So the singles from her upcoming album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, might actually offer a window into her soul. As Dr. Gilda Carle, a New York psychotherapist who has not treated Gwen, explains, when she wrote these songs, “she was feeling shaky about things with Blake because she just came out of a marriage where her husband was cheating on her. She should have stayed alone for a while. Handwriting expert David Liebman concurs after examining samples of Gwen’s handwriting in an image the singer posted to Instagram (below). “She’s in love with the idea of being in love, he says, “but she’s very upset underneath it all. It seems that, deep down, Gwen fears that she’s going to end up alone, without someone to love her. FROM ROCKER GLAM… For years, Gwen’s style was informed by the music she makes (and listens to), a mix of rock, punk and hip-hop. TALE OF THE TEXTS The two female singers share some acquaintances in the music biz,” an insider explains, and last month it got back to Miranda that Gwen had been referring to her as a redneck harlot,’ among other things. So Miranda got ahold of Gwen’s cell-phone number and …TO DOWN-HOME DENIM When she started seeing Blake, though, she started mixing in country pieces like overalls, camo and flannel! started calling, sometimes as many as four times in one day. Gwen didn’t bother picking up, the source continues, because the calls were coming from an unknown number. But at some point, she got annoyed and texted back, Who is this, and how did you get my number? ’ Apparently, Miranda felt no need to be sneaky. She identified herself by calling Gwen a home-wrecker,” the source says, and added that Gwen was lucky I don’t find you and kick your a. Then, Miranda really stuck the knife in, the source claims, by saying that Gwen’s career was over and she and her music hadn’t been relevant since the ’90s.” Ouch! POINTING THE FINGER While Miranda was accusing Gwen of using Blake to pump up her own profile, Gwen didn’t take SHE WENT COUNTRY the bait. Instead, she tried to take the high road, ignoring Miranda and changing her number. Less judicious, though, was her decision to lash out at Blake, 39, for what had gone down, even though she must have known deep down that it wasn’t his fault. Gwen accused him of somehow letting her phone number slip to his ex, the source says. But things really heated up when Blake seemingly defended Miranda. “He told Gwen to calm down and tried to brush off the situation, explaining that it was just Miranda’s tough country gal’ personality coming through, and that Gwen shouldn’t get too worked up about it. Of course, Blake didn’t mean to take his ex’s side “He’s just the easiest-going guy on Earth who wanted to diffuse the tension, the source explains but that’s exactly how Gwen saw it. And she was livid enough to put the brakes on their entire relationship over his supposed betrayal. She’s very sensitive about what she sees as a lack of loyalty because of things that happened in her marriage,”the source says, referring to her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale’s PUTTING ON A SHOW? The pair nuzzled at the Grammys on Feb. 15, which doubled as an opportunity for Gwen to promote her new album. It remains to be seen how they’ll vibe when Gwen turns up as Blake’s team mentor on the new season of The Voice, but we’re guessing it won’t look quite so… cozy. alleged affairs and the revelation, years in, that he had a secret teenaged daughter. Gwen decided that if Blake wouldn’t stand up for her and tell Miranda off, she didn’t want to be with him. WHO’S THAT GIRL? Whether they’ll get back together is anyone’s guess… but the fact that Blake still isn’t taking Gwen’s concerns seriously doesn’t make the source hopeful for a reunion. “He thinks Gwen made a mountain out of a molehill, and the whole situation made him see another side of her he didn’t know was there. It’s sad, but maybe they just took on too much, too soon. OK’ GWYNETH AND BEN This movie star couple were on and off while making (and promoting) their 2000 drama, Bounce. JENNIFER AND MARC Their short-lived reality show Q’Viva! The Chosen was filmed after their 2011 split. TONY… AND GWEN! Even Gwen’s old hat at this: She and bandmate Tony Kanal broke up just before No Doubt shot to fame. The writing’s on the wall for adult learning | activate learning blog Bestcelebritystyle
