Water is the best drink to serve at all meals. It should be sipped with the entire meal, that is, before eating, during the meal, between courses, when not chewing food, and after eating. You might think of it as layering the food with liquid. But remember, only fill the stomach two-thirds to three-fourths of its capacity, so that at the end of the meal one-third of the stomach contains food and one-third water. The rest should be left empty to allow for comfortable digestion.
